Many companies applied for the Cleantech Hero Energy 2021. However, you chose the companies Turbulent, Smappee and The Sniffers as the 3 finalists.

Turbulent Hydro

Turbulent is an international climate-tech company, founded in 2015. Turbulent designs and develops environmentally friendly micro-hydropower plants based on its patented vortex (whirlpool) technology, with generated power of 15kW, 30kW, 50kW, 70kW per turbine. Turbulent's ingenious hydropower stations are environment- and fish-friendly, do not use any embankments and already work at a low drop (1.5m - 5m) and flow (from 1m3/s). The micro power stations are used worldwide to provide stable green power in regions where there is insufficient, unreliable or too variable electricity supply. Turbulent's power plants deliver power continuously (day and night), guaranteeing the necessary power supply for critical medical infrastructure, schools, telecom, etc., as well as providing important support for fluctuating electricity demand, as well as providing important support for fluctuating inputs from green power installations (solar, wind) to the mini, micro, macro electricity grid. In industrialized countries, Turbulent's micro power stations are used to inject more stable, green power into production departments of companies or into the grid.

Turbulent's head office is located in Leuven, but the company operates worldwide in collaboration with local distributors and partners.
