Good news: Cleantech Flanders is calling it quits

Posted on 25 Aug 2023

Cleantech Flanders is coming to an end, and that's a positive development. We noticethat cleantech is performing well and there's been an overlap between the services and activities offered by Cleantech Flanders and those of other entities within the ecosystem.

The outcome of this positive evolution is that there's less need for a separate organisation to promote Flemish cleantech both within Flanders and internationally. We've made this decision following discussions with stakeholders and an evaluation of the needs of Flemish cleantech companies.

Cleantech companies can, for instance, turn to:

  • Flanders Investment & Trade (FIT), which has been expanded with 10 Trade Advisors (TAs), including 3 for climate and cleantech.
  • G-STIC, the G-STIC climate action program offers cleantech companies the opportunity to undertake international climate projects in developing countries.
  • Spearhead clusters, other (business) networks, and local initiatives such as SmartHub Flemish Brabant, Cleantech Cluster Ghent, Provincial Development Companies, Project Pura, and more.

Certain activities of Cleantech Flanders, such as the Cleantech Report and Cleantech Hero, will continue under the regular operations of VITO. The website will remain online until the end of 2023. Frans Snijkers and Charlotte Struye, the driving forces behind Cleantech Flanders, will take on different roles within VITO.

We want to express our sincere appreciation for the trust and support you've given us. We take pride in the milestones we achieved together, the positive experiences we shared, and the valuable connections we made. We're confident that our paths will cross again in the future and hope to be of service to you again.
