Claire Tillekaerts (°Ghent 1957) CEO/Managing Director of Flanders Investment & Trade, holds a Master's degree in Law and a postgraduate diploma in Management.
For 20 years, Claire Tillekaerts was a lawyer admitted to the Ghent bar and combined that role with teaching at Ghent University. During her final year studying Law, she specialised in administrative law, among other things. At the bar, she mainly practised commercial law and international commercial law, company law, insurance law and family law.
In 2001, she was asked to set up the legal department of the Hogeschool Gent, among other things, to steer the merger with other higher education institutions in the right direction, to set up international research and development funds and to act as an adviser during the establishment of the Ghent University Association.
In 2005, she obtained a diploma in Management, after which she took up the position of Managing Director at Flanders Investment & Trade in October 2006. In 2012, she became CEO/Managing Director.
She is a member of the Boards of Directors of the Belgian public credit insurer ONDD, the Agency for Foreign Trade, Flemings in the World, Flanders House in New York, the Liaison Agency Flanders-Europe (VLEVA), De Warande, Ghent University, the Concertgebouw Brugge and CIFAL, is the Chair of the Flanders International Film Festival Ghent, the Chair of the Council of Regency and member of the Remuneration and Nomination Committee of the National Bank of Belgium and of the Management Committee of the Belgian Commissariat-General for International Exhibitions.
